Computation of Multistage Flows Using a Fourier Approach

چکیده
This paper presents efficient procedures to model multistage flows using Fourier-based methods. The Favre-averaged nonlinear harmonic method is extended compute by introducing rotor–rotor or stator–stator interactions. A unified treatment transfer disturbances through blade–row interfaces also formulated. performance of the proposed demonstrated in a compressor and turbine with different levels flow nonlinearity. computed solutions matches well unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) simulations but require far smaller computational resources. reduce cost clocking studies even further building reduced models from existing Fourier modes. allows flowfield for required position be constructed postprocessing modes single arbitrary configuration. technique predicting efficiency variation respect rotor blade wall temperature distributions hot streak migration problem. Excellent agreement RANS found. methods become less accurate presence large nonuniformity produced still show significant improvement over mixing plane solutions.
